Synopsis
Tomoya Mikami loses his girlfriend Ayaka in an accident, and after that, he kind of just... stops. He goes through the motions at school, keeps everyone at arm's length, and carries around a quiet guilt that's hard to shake. That's where this 3-episode OVA drops you — right in the middle of a guy trying to figure out how you're supposed to feel anything again when grief has made everything feel pointless. It's not flashy, and it doesn't rush him through the healing process. The story slowly introduces people who drift into his life — a childhood friend who clearly cares about him, new classmates with their own quiet depths — and you watch Tomoya wrestle with whether letting someone in again is even something he deserves. The whole thing is adapted from the visual novel series, so there's that layered, branching-story energy where every character feels like they have a full life happening just offscreen. The tone is genuinely melancholic without being suffocating. If you liked Clannad or Ef: A Tale of Memories, this scratches a similar itch — grief, young love, the awkward process of choosing to move forward. It's shorter and quieter than those, which honestly works in its favor. Three episodes means it doesn't overstay its welcome. Worth watching if you're in the mood for something emotionally grounded and a little bittersweet.
