M.D. Geist
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Humanity's greatest weapon also became its biggest problem. Geist is an M.D.S. — a Most Dangerous Soldier — a genetically engineered killing machine so effective and so utterly unhinged that his own military had no choice but to freeze him and launch him into orbit. Not retire him. Not imprison him on the planet. Actually shoot him into space because no one knew what else to do with him. Then his satellite crashes back down onto Jerra, a world that's been grinding through decades of brutal warfare, and suddenly that very messy problem is everyone else's problem too. This 1986 OVA is one episode of pure dark, gritty sci-fi with mecha combat and violence that doesn't pull its punches. The animation has that raw, detailed 80s quality — chunky mechanical designs, grim color palettes, a world that feels genuinely worn down by war. There's no redemption arc setup, no team of plucky heroes. Just a dangerous man in a dangerous world that might actually deserve him. If you've watched Genocyber or Fist of the North Star: The Movie and wanted something with more mecha and military atmosphere, this scratches that itch. Fans of Blue Gender will also recognize the vibe — post-apocalyptic chaos, adult characters, and a willingness to get ugly. At a single episode, it asks almost nothing of your time, but it delivers a specific flavor of hard-edged 80s anime that genuinely doesn't exist anywhere else.
