📖 SYNOPSIS
Mardock Scramble: The First Compression introduces Rune Balot, a young prostitute living in the dangerous city of Mardock. She finds herself the recipient of lavish gifts and a new life courtesy of Shell, a casino manager. However, Balot's curiosity leads her to investigate Shell's past, a decision that results in a brutal attempt on her life.
Miraculously, Balot survives, thanks to "Scramble 09," a law allowing extreme measures to revive crime witnesses. A professor reconstructs her body using advanced synthetic fiber. Now reborn, Balot grapples with her new existence and a burning desire for revenge against Shell, the man who betrayed her. The story explores themes of survival, justice, and the consequences of unchecked ambition in a city defined by its lawlessness.
