Li Xiongmao

Synopsis
Raised by demons on Black and White Mountain, Li Xiongmao finds his loyalties thrown into chaos when his master sends him into the human world to hunt down three enemies who destroyed everything he called home. He's human by blood but demon by upbringing, and that tension sits at the center of everything this ONA is doing. From the jump, you get the sense that the truth behind the demon race's fall is messier than a simple revenge mission, and Li's journey keeps pulling back layers on a conflict that neither side has clean hands in. The human-demon dynamic here feels closer to The Legend of Luo Xiaohei than to straightforward good-versus-evil territory — it's more interested in the grey zones than in picking a team. If you grew up on Inuyasha and want something that scratches that same itch with a fresh angle, or if you liked the emotional core under Demon Slayer's action, this has that same quality of a protagonist fighting for people who raised him while questioning what that actually means. GARDEN Culture is handling the animation, adapting from a novel, and the early footage suggests they're committing to both the action choreography and the quieter identity-crisis moments equally. It's not a light watch, but it's not grim for the sake of it either — just a story about a kid caught between worlds, trying to figure out which version of himself is real.
