Synopsis
At eleven years old, Sana Kurata is a sixth grader with a genuinely chaotic life — child actress, eccentric author mom, and a personal attendant whose entire job is keeping her emotionally stable. By most measures, things are going great. Then there's Akito Hayama, her quiet, stone-faced classmate who started letting the boys run wild in class, and now every school day is a battlefield between the girls, the frazzled teacher, and a group of boys who have basically decided consequences aren't real. Sana, being Sana, decides this is her problem to fix. What follows is a 102-episode TV series that starts as pure comedic chaos — think rapid-fire jokes, exaggerated expressions, and a heroine who talks faster than most people think — and gradually pulls you into something with a lot more emotional weight underneath. Akito is cold and dismissive on the surface, but there are real reasons behind his behavior, and watching Sana slowly figure that out is where the show earns its drama. The animation from Gallop leans into the energy with a style that's expressive and genuinely funny. If you liked Kaichou wa Maid-sama or Itazura na Kiss — enemies-to-something-more dynamics with real emotional payoff — this is very much in that space. If Gakuen Alice's blend of childhood stakes and hidden darkness sounds appealing, Kodocha hits similar notes. Don't expect the romance upfront; it builds slowly, and that's what makes it land.
