Kizuna: Much Ado About Nothing
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Back in junior high, Ranmaru — a kendo prodigy — was the one who caught Kei's eye, and basically never looked back; the two have been together ever since. Years later, they're adults sharing an apartment, and things seem genuinely solid between them. Then Kei stumbles home one morning after a late night with a client, and Ranmaru notices a few things that don't quite add up: makeup on the clothes, lipstick on the chest, matches from a love hotel. Then a woman calls asking for 'Kei-chan.' This single OVA sits with that moment — the hurt, the silence, the weight of a relationship suddenly feeling uncertain — and it doesn't rush to resolve it neatly. It's less about what actually happened and more about what doubt does to two people who've built something real together. The tone is quiet and heavy in the way that actually stings. If you're into Boys Love titles like Junjou Romantica or Sekaiichi Hatsukoi but want something a bit more grounded and emotionally uncomfortable, this scratches a different itch. It's based on a manga that was genuinely influential in the yaoi genre, so there's some history behind it too. At just one episode, it's a low commitment watch, but it lingers. Don't go in expecting a clean resolution — go in expecting a story that takes the messiness of adult relationships seriously.
