"Kimi wo Aisuru Ki wa Nai" to Itta Jiki Koushaku-sama ga Nazeka Dekiai shitekimasu
Oshimeter
Synopsis
"I will never love you" — that's the declaration Julius, the most eligible Duke in the kingdom, delivers to his new bride on their wedding night. Cold, blunt, conversation over. Except then he starts doing things like personally tasting her food to make sure it's to her liking, glaring daggers at anyone who looks at her wrong, and drowning her in expensive gifts she never asked for. Elsa, the daughter of a ruined noble house, agreed to this marriage fully expecting to be ignored in some far wing of a mansion. Instead she's stuck trying to figure out why the man who explicitly said he wouldn't love her is acting like the most devoted husband alive. The whole premise runs on that gap — Julius's mouth says one thing, and literally everything else about him says the opposite. It's tsundere behavior cranked up to aristocratic levels, and Elsa's genuine confusion about it is what makes the comedy land. This isn't a slow burn where you wait twelve episodes for the cold male lead to crack a smile. He's already completely gone for her from the jump, he just won't admit it. If you liked the cozy domestic energy of My Happy Marriage or the "why is this Duke so obsessed with me" dynamic from Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke's Mansion, this is the same lane — low stakes, high fluff, zero angst. It's comfort food romance set in a pretty fantasy world, and sometimes that's exactly what you need.
