Keroro Gunsou Movie 6: Fukkatsu shite Sokkou Chikyuu Metsubou no Kiki de Arimasu!
Oshimeter
Synopsis
For twenty years, a frog-shaped alien sergeant has been "invading" Earth and still hasn't conquered it. That's Keroro for you. This movie marks the 20th anniversary of the franchise, bringing back the Keroro Platoon — Sergeant Keroro, the perpetually distracted leader; Giroro, the weapons-obsessed one who's secretly soft; Tamama, the jealous sweetheart; Kururu, the creepy tech genius; and Dororo, the ninja everyone keeps forgetting exists. They reunite with the Hinata family in modern-day Japan, and naturally, things go sideways almost immediately. The platoon tries to readjust to human life, which mostly involves Keroro blowing his invasion budget on Gundam models and the rest of the squad getting tangled in absurd misunderstandings. Then, because nothing can stay peaceful, an actual threat to Earth shows up — and these five incompetent frogs might be the only ones who can deal with it. The humor here runs on parody and character dynamics. It riffs on pop culture the way Gintama does, with that same energy of characters who are too lazy or dysfunctional for their own premise. If you enjoyed the absurdist sci-fi comedy of Space Dandy or the rapid-fire gags of Excel Saga, this sits comfortably in that neighborhood. It's a movie, so you get the whole thing in one sitting — no commitment required. Long-time fans get their reunion, and newcomers get a self-contained story with a cast that's genuinely fun to watch bounce off each other.
