📖 SYNOPSIS
"Kankara Sanshin" portrays the aftermath of the Battle of Okinawa during World War II. The island, ravaged by war and under American military control, faces extreme scarcity of resources. The Okinawan people struggle for basic survival, lacking essential goods. Despite their hardships, they find solace and a means of expression in music and dance, using it to uplift their spirits. The traditional sanshin instruments are rare due to the war's destruction. The film highlights the Okinawans' resourcefulness as they find a way to bring music back to the people, even utilizing the powdered milk cans provided by the Americans to create instruments. The film explores themes of resilience, cultural preservation, and the enduring power of art in the face of adversity.
