OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS
"Kaiju No. 8" is set in a Japan plagued by frequent kaiju attacks, necessitating the existence of the Japan Defense Force, a military organization dedicated to monster neutralization. The story follows Kafka Hibino, a man working to clean up kaiju corpses, who has long aspired to join the Defense Force. He gets a second chance to pursue his childhood dream, but a sudden and unforeseen event drastically alters his path. Kafka undergoes a transformation, becoming a kaiju himself. Now, he must grapple with his new monstrous form while navigating his desire to protect humanity and achieve his lifelong ambition, all while facing the challenges of his unexpected situation. The anime explores themes of duty, identity, and the struggle to overcome adversity in a world constantly under threat.
