EPISODE CONTEXT
Arriving after the multi-episode Panther Tribe arc, episode 78 serves as a cooldown beat roughly halfway through the series' 167-episode run, redirecting energy from ensemble action toward individual character exploration. As a filler episode, it doesn't advance the central Naraku conflict but deepens Sango's characterization and her bond with Miroku ahead of future story developments. Subsequent episodes begin weaving character growth back into the overarching plotlines.
