EPISODE CONTEXT
Sitting roughly a third of the way through the series at episode 57, this installment arrives just after Sango's temporary departure to have Hiraikotsu repaired, which strips the group of firepower at the worst possible time. It introduces Tōkajin as a standalone antagonist, kicking off a contained two-part arc that will resolve in the following episode. While not directly tied to the overarching Naraku conflict, it serves as a compelling palate cleanser that tests the remaining group's cohesion under pressure.
