EPISODE CONTEXT
Following episode three's detour back to modern-day Tokyo, this episode firmly re-establishes the feudal era as the primary stage and marks the true beginning of the Shikon Jewel shard hunt. It's the first standalone demon encounter, setting the formula for much of InuYasha's 167-episode run while deepening the Inuyasha-Kagome partnership that will anchor the entire series. This early action showcase builds the foundation of trust between the leads that every subsequent arc will depend on.
