Initial D Battle Stage 2
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Take every conversation, every gas station hangout, every subplot about Takumi's love life and toss it — just leave the races. That's Initial D Battle Stage 2. This single-episode OVA takes Project D's entire campaign from Fourth Stage and distills it into pure mountain pass warfare, set to a relentless Super Eurobeat soundtrack that never lets up. Takumi Fujiwara pushes his aging AE86 downhill against increasingly dangerous opponents while Keisuke Takahashi handles uphill duties in his RX-7 FD, and every race gets the full treatment — technique breakdowns, tire screeches, hairpin drifts. The real draw here, though, is two battles that never made it into the TV series: Keisuke's fights against Smiley Sakai and Atsuro Kawai, pulled straight from the manga. If you've already seen Fourth Stage, those alone justify watching. If you haven't, this works surprisingly well as a standalone adrenaline drip — you won't fully grasp the rivalries, but you'll understand the driving. The format basically functions as a highlight reel for gearheads who care more about racing lines than character arcs. If you liked the raw automotive intensity of Wangan Midnight or you're into MF Ghost and want to see what came before it, this is the concentrated version of Initial D's best stretch. No filler, no downtime, just touge battles back to back until the credits roll.
