📖 SYNOPSIS

"Inamura no Hi" recounts the true story of the 1854 Nankai earthquake and the tsunami that followed. The narrative centers on five samurai villagers who, upon seeing the distant tsunami, understand the impending danger. Their attempts to warn the villagers are largely ignored. Faced with this apathy, they devise a daring plan. They set fire to the threshed rice, the villagers' primary source of income, hoping to force them to flee to safety. The villagers, believing their entire crop is ablaze, rush to the fields to extinguish the fire. This desperate act of self-preservation becomes their salvation as the tsunami crashes down, destroying the villages below, but sparing those who heeded the samurai's fiery warning. The story explores themes of community, sacrifice, and the desperate measures taken in the face of natural disaster.
