EPISODE CONTEXT
After Episode 3 expanded Umaru's social circle by developing her dynamic with the shy Kirie, Episode 4 introduces the second major recurring relationship of the season through Sylphinford Tachibana's rivalry. This is the show methodically building out its supporting cast one episode at a time, and Sylphinford's competitive energy sets up a thread that will weave through the remainder of the twelve-episode run. At the one-third mark, the series is firmly establishing the character dynamics that will drive its comedy going forward.
