EPISODE CONTEXT
Coming off Hikaru's shocking victory over Akira Toya in the opening episodes, episode 4 pivots away from that rivalry to introduce Tetsuo Kaga, expanding Hikaru's social circle and challenging his understanding of competitive board game culture. This is a critical setup episode that pushes Hikaru closer to committing to Go as more than Sai's vessel, laying groundwork for his growing self-awareness in episode 5 and beyond.
