Still shamelessly perverted and now a reincarnated devil, high school student Issei Hyoudou returns in High School DxD New, his second season picking up right where things left off — him serving under the gorgeous Rias Gremory while chasing his dream of becoming a Harem King. But this time around, the spotlight shifts in an interesting way. Yuuto Kiba, the club's cool and collected Knight, starts unraveling. Something about Holy Swords is eating at him, tied to a past that's genuinely dark and bloody. The show uses Kiba's arc to dig into the mythology it's been building — devils, angels, fallen angels, Holy Swords — and it actually rewards you for paying attention to the lore beneath all the fan service. That's the thing about this series: it's unapologetically ecchi and comedic, but it layers in real stakes and character work when you're not expecting it. The power dynamics between supernatural factions get more complex, the fights hit harder, and Issei's relationships deepen beyond just the comedy beats. If you liked Rosario + Vampire or The Testament of Sister New Devil but wished they leaned more into actual plot progression, this 12-episode TV series from studio TNK delivers on that. And if you enjoyed the first season's mix of harem antics and genuine action, New builds on it without losing what made the original fun. Just don't watch it around other people.
