Hero Without a Class: Who Even Needs Skills?!
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Every kid in this world gets a class assigned by the Goddess at age ten — swordsman, mage, healer, whatever — and that's basically your entire life decided for you. Arel is the son of two absolute legends, the Sword Princess Fara and Archmage Leon, so everyone expects him to get something incredible. Instead, he gets nothing. Classless. No innate skills, no special abilities, just a kid with famous parents and zero magical inheritance to show for it. The twist is that being classless doesn't mean powerless — Arel figures out he can actually replicate any class's abilities, but only through grueling, honest-to-god hard work. No shortcuts, no cheat codes. He trains in both swordsmanship and magic the old-fashioned way, then heads to the City of Swords to join a guild called Dragon Fang and start proving himself. The vibe is action-packed with a solid comedic streak running through it. It's a 12-episode TV series from Studio A-CAT based on a light novel, and it leans hard into that satisfying "effort beats talent" theme without being preachy about it. If you liked the underdog energy of The Rising of the Shield Hero or the way Arifureta turns a hopeless situation into a power fantasy, this scratches a similar itch. It also shares some DNA with Jobless Reincarnation in how it builds out its fantasy world and class system. Worth picking up if you're into fantasy underdog stories where the protagonist earns every win.
