Synopsis

Charged with protecting England from vampires, the Hellsing Organization's best weapon happens to be one. Alucard is an ancient, absurdly powerful vampire who works for the British crown, and watching him operate is like watching a cat toy with its food — except the food is other monsters. In the first episode, he's sent to a village overrun by ghouls and casually dismantles everything in his path with a single handgun. Along the way, a young police officer named Seras Victoria gets caught in the crossfire and has to make an impossible choice: die, or become the thing she was fighting. She chooses to live, and her struggle to adjust to vampire existence while working alongside Alucard gives the show its emotional core. This is a 13-episode TV series from Gonzo that leans hard into gothic horror — heavy shadows, blood-soaked action, and a soundtrack by Yasushi Ishii that drips atmosphere. The tone is dark and deliberate, closer to a horror film than a typical shonen slugfest. If you enjoyed the moody vampire aesthetics of Blood+ or the supernatural warfare of Trinity Blood, this hits a similar nerve but with more bite. Fans of Devil May Cry's stylish, over-the-top combat will feel right at home too. It's a seinen adaptation, so expect it to stay violent and unapologetic about it. Short enough to finish in a weekend, dark enough to stick with you after.

What a thrilling welcome into the casually dark and unhinged world of Hellsing. I can only describe the experience as the most badass nightmare I've ever had. The soundtrack, sound design, and color story form a stylish chorus, while we are baffled by the ghastly work of Alucard.
Dark and unsettling in the best way. The snuff film plot forces Seras to confront what she has become. Alucard barely appears but his presence looms over everything. Hellsing at its most atmospheric and uncomfortable.
Gothic horror meets vampire hunting. Alucard is a force of nature cool, sadistic, unstoppable. The jazz-industrial soundtrack and creepy atmosphere are perfection. Slower than Ultimate, but oozes style.
