Haruchika: Haruta & Chika
Oshimeter
Synopsis
After hanging up her volleyball jersey, former star player Chika Homura sets out to reinvent herself as a cute, feminine high schooler, deciding the best way to pull it off is to pick up the flute and join the Wind Instrument Club. There's just one problem — her childhood friend Haruta Kamijou is already there, and he sees right through her whole act. The club is barely surviving, short on members and even shorter on respect, so Chika and Haruta end up on a mission to recruit new players. But here's where it gets interesting: every potential member comes wrapped in some kind of personal mystery that the two have to untangle before anyone picks up an instrument. It's a 12-episode TV series from P.A. Works, so you know the visuals are clean, and the tone sits in this comfortable space between cozy school life and genuinely clever puzzles. Haruta handles the deductive stuff while Chika brings the energy and heart, and their dynamic carries the whole show. If you liked the music club atmosphere of Sound! Euphonium but wanted something lighter with a mystery angle, this fits that niche. There are also shades of Hyouka in how the mysteries are more personal and grounded than dramatic — nobody's solving murders, just figuring out why people are the way they are. It's romantic, youthful, and surprisingly thoughtful about what it means to grow alongside the people around you.
