Harmony of Mille-Feuille
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Blessed with the kind of voice that could stop you in your tracks, Uta Komaki can barely make eye contact with a stranger. She's a first-year at Temarizawa High School who desperately wants to join the light music club but keeps chickening out before she can even hand in the application form. Then Airi Kojou, president of the school's a cappella club, catches wind of Uta's talent and pulls her into a completely different world — one where there are no instruments to hide behind, just voices layered on top of each other like, well, mille-feuille. The club is small and a little odd: you've got Musubu, Reirei, Ururu, and the one everyone calls Kuma-chan, each bringing their own quirks and hangups to the table. The first couple episodes are really just about Uta finding the nerve to open her mouth and sing in front of people, which sounds simple but hits harder than you'd expect. This is a 10-episode TV series from Jumondou that knows exactly what it wants to be — a quiet, wholesome story about finding your voice, literally and otherwise. If you liked the cozy club dynamics of K-On! or the vocal focus of Sound! Euphonium but want something even more laid-back, this fits that space nicely. The a cappella angle keeps things fresh since every performance is pure voice, no instruments, and the harmonies genuinely sound beautiful. It's the kind of show you watch on a Sunday afternoon and feel a little better afterward.
