Synopsis
A standout pitcher in middle school, Hiro Kunimi had everything taken away from him by an elbow injury. Rather than sit on the bench at a baseball school, he enrolls somewhere with no baseball team at all and joins the soccer club — basically running from the sport he loves. Then he meets Haruka, the perpetually clumsy manager of the school's unofficial baseball club, and things get complicated fast. His childhood friend Hikari is at a different school with her boyfriend Hideo, a genuinely gifted baseball ace, and both of them quietly wish Hiro hadn't walked away from the game. The four of them orbit each other in ways that are equal parts heartwarming and messy. When the soccer team decides to bully the baseball club with a challenge match, Hiro does something that says everything about who he actually is — and from there, the story finds its footing. The baseball is taken seriously, the relationships feel real, and the humor lands without undercutting the emotional moments. If you grew up on Touch or Cross Game and want something in that same wheelhouse — slow-burn romance wrapped around a sports comeback — H2 fits right in. It's a 41-episode TV series from 1995, so the pacing is deliberate, but that's exactly where it earns your investment. Think less hype, more warmth.
