Grisaia: Phantom Trigger
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Once a refuge for troubled girls, Mihama Academy has been transformed into a black-ops training facility where teenagers learn to shoot, hack, and blow things up for national defense. That's the setup for Grisaia: Phantom Trigger, a TV series set years after The Fruit of Grisaia that trades the original's psychological drama for a squad-based action format. Rena and Maki handle firearms, Tohka is a sniper, Chris deals with explosives and intel, and Murasaki is literally a ninja. Together they take on missions too messy for the police or military, guided by their handler Haruto. The first couple episodes do a solid job establishing who everyone is and how they work together — each character has a distinct combat role, and the team dynamics feel earned rather than forced. Bibury Animation Studios handles the production, and the action sequences look genuinely sharp, with a soundtrack featuring vocal themes by Yoshino Nanjo that fits the tone well. If you liked the young operatives angle of Gunslinger Girl or the "kids trained as weapons" premise of Black Bullet, this scratches a similar itch but with a more polished modern look. It's based on a visual novel, so expect character depth to build gradually across the 13 episodes rather than all at once. The vibe sits somewhere between school life and covert military thriller — youthful on the surface, but the missions carry real weight.
