Go! Go! Tokyo MER: Kinkyuujitai to Tatakau Nakama-tachi
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Imagine a medical emergency team, except they're all animals. That's basically the whole pitch for Go! Go! Tokyo MER. This ONA takes the cast of the live-action drama Tokyo MER — a show about a mobile emergency room unit racing around Tokyo saving lives — and reimagines every character as a different anthropomorphic animal. The serious doctors and nurses become cute critters bumbling through their workday, and the high-stakes medical drama gets swapped out for low-stakes workplace comedy. The first couple of episodes introduce you to the animal versions of the MER crew and their group dynamic. Instead of intense surgical procedures, you get the team navigating petty disagreements, office mishaps, and the general chaos of working together in close quarters. It's short-form stuff, so each episode is a quick little sketch rather than anything you need to invest hours into. Produced by FUNNY MOVIE in 2022, this works best if you're already a fan of the original live-action series and want a silly companion piece. But even without that context, if you liked the oddball animal-character energy of something like Mon Colle Knights, or the comedic workplace vibes of Burn-Up Scramble where the job is mostly an excuse for the cast to bounce off each other, this scratches a similar itch. It's lightweight, it's goofy, and it knows exactly what it is — a comedic palette cleanser that doesn't ask much of you.
