📖 SYNOPSIS
Don't let that intimidating scowl fool you—Nakamura is actually just trying to figure out how to say hi to his classmate. Okuto Nakamura is a gloomy, socially awkward high schooler whose entire world revolves around two things: his pet octopus and Aiki Hirose, the bright, friendly guy who sits near him in class. Ever since the entrance ceremony, Nakamura has been quietly pining from across the room, building up the courage to just talk to the guy. When he finally makes his move, it goes wrong in the most painfully relatable way possible, and what should have been a simple introduction turns into an ongoing comedy of errors. This is a Boys' Love story, but the vibe here is less dramatic romance and more watching your most anxious friend try to function around their crush. Every attempt Nakamura makes to get closer to Hirose spirals into awkward disaster, and the show leans into that cringe-comedy space without ever being mean about it. There's a retro art style going on too, kind of reminiscent of older manga, which gives it a distinct look compared to most modern BL anime. If you liked the gentle warmth of Sasaki to Miyano or the understated sweetness of Doukyuusei, this lands in similar territory but with way more secondhand embarrassment. It's a small, endearing story about a kid learning to be brave enough to just exist near the person he likes.
