given The Movie: To the Sea
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Deep in Mafuyu Sato's voice lives a grief that won't let go — and when he sings, you feel every bit of it. Given Movie 3: Umi e picks up after the band faces a tough loss in a music competition, and now Mafuyu has to decide whether to accept a major debut offer that could change everything. Meanwhile, guitarist Ritsuka Uenoyama is pouring himself into writing new songs, trying to keep the band together while figuring out where he and Mafuyu actually stand with each other. This movie is the second part of the Hiiragi Mix arc, and Lerche handles it with the same quiet emotional weight the series has always been known for. The music scenes hit hard, but honestly, it's the small moments between characters — the hesitation, the unspoken tension — that stick with you. The whole thing feels like sitting at the shore and letting something wash over you, which tracks given the title. If you liked the gentle, grounded romance of Doukyuusei or the seaside melancholy of Umibe no Étranger, this lives in that same space but with the added layer of band dynamics and creative ambition pulling people in different directions. Fans of Sasaki to Miyano's patient approach to relationships will appreciate how nothing here feels rushed. It's a quiet, emotional movie about figuring out what music means to you when the person you love is tangled up in the answer.
