📖 SYNOPSIS
A slum kid named Rudo scavenges the trash thrown away by the wealthy elites who live in the Sphere — a floating structure far above the ground. To them, everything below is garbage — including the people. When his adoptive father Regto is murdered and Rudo gets framed for it, he's sentenced to be thrown into the Pit, a massive abyss where the city dumps its waste and its criminals. Nobody comes back from the Pit. Except Rudo doesn't die. Down in the depths, he discovers a world of survivors called Givers who can breathe life into discarded objects and turn them into weapons. The junk that society threw away becomes the source of real power.
This is a 24-episode TV series from Bones Film airing in 2025, adapted from the shounen manga, and it has a visual identity that actually stands out — the art style leans into graffiti-inspired aesthetics co-developed with artist Hideyoshi Andou, giving everything a raw, textured look you don't usually see in anime. The soundtrack by Taku Iwasaki (Gurren Lagann, Bungo Stray Dogs) matches the intensity beat for beat.
If you liked the grimy worldbuilding of Dorohedoro, the vertigo-inducing descent of Made in Abyss, or the class warfare rage of Attack on Titan, this hits similar notes while doing its own thing. The themes of social inequality and what society considers disposable give it weight beyond the action, though the action delivers plenty on its own.
