At Totsuki Academy's Moon Festival, Souma Yukihira competes to earn the most while secretly plotting to challenge the Elite Ten, all while an unseen threat looms.

📖 SYNOPSIS

For Souma Yukihira, cooking has always been a contact sport, and Tootsuki Culinary Academy is his arena. This 12-episode TV series picks up in the third season with the Moon Festival, an annual event where students run food stalls and compete for the highest profits. For Souma, it's less about the money and more about finally getting a shot at the Elite Ten — the council of top students who basically run the school like a culinary oligarchy. But while he's busy trying to out-cook the best chefs his age, something bigger starts brewing behind the scenes. A power play is forming that could reshape the entire academy, and Souma's going to end up right in the middle of it whether he's ready or not.

The thing that keeps this series working is how seriously it takes the cooking. J.C.Staff animates every dish with an almost absurd level of detail — you can practically smell the food through the screen. The culinary battles are genuinely creative, mixing real technique with over-the-top presentation that somehow never feels cheap. And yeah, clothes explode off people when the food is good. That's the ecchi element, and it's played for comedy more than anything.

If you liked the competitive energy of Yakitate!! Japan or the underdog cooking spirit of Cooking Master Boy, this scratches the same itch but with sharper animation and higher stakes. It's comfort food with teeth.

✨ MUST WATCH IF...

You loved Seasons 1–2 and want Souma's first real clash with the Elite Ten
The Moon Festival arc's cooking rivalry with Kuga is exactly the kind of shokugeki hype you're after
You're okay with the series shifting toward a Central Arc — more "good vs. evil" institutional conflict
J.C.Staff's consistent animation still delivers on over-the-top foodgasm reactions and dish presentations

❌ SKIP IF...

You preferred the earlier seasons' laid-back school competition vibe over political power struggles
Twelve episodes feel rushed — key character arcs and plot threads don't get enough room to breathe
Ecchi food reactions still dominate big moments, and that gag's worn thin for you by now
