EPISODE CONTEXT
As the series premiere of a 23-episode run, this episode exists purely to establish the underdog foundation — Kakeru's arrival, the broken state of the Kickers club, and the enormous gap between where the team is and where it needs to be. Everything introduced here — the demoralized players, the losing mentality, the team's near-collapse — becomes the raw material that subsequent episodes will build on as Kakeru attempts to reignite their competitive spirit ahead of upcoming rivalries.
