Fatal Fury: Legend of the Hungry Wolf
Oshimeter
Synopsis
As children, Terry and Andy Bogard watched a man murder their father right in front of them. That man was Geese Howard, the most powerful crime lord in South Town, and he did it right in front of them. The brothers spent the next ten years training — obsessively, relentlessly — under a martial arts master named Tung Fu Rue, learning the Hakkyokuseiken techniques their father died protecting. Then Geese announces a King of Fighters tournament, and suddenly the brothers have their opening. That setup alone carries real weight, and the anime earns it by grounding the revenge story in genuine emotional stakes rather than just an excuse to chain fights together. Terry is the scruffy, streetwise older brother; Andy is sharper and more disciplined; their friend Joe Higashi brings some levity as a kickboxing hothead. There's also a romantic thread with Mai Shiranui, a kunoichi with her own ties to the Bogard circle. The animation style comes from Masami Ōbari, whose character work gives everyone a distinct, expressive look, and the soundtrack actually pulls its weight during the heavier scenes. If you liked Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie or Art of Fighting for their grounded, game-faithful tone, this sits comfortably in that same space. It's a single TV special, so the commitment is low — one sitting, a complete arc, and a revenge story that doesn't overstay its welcome.
