Synopsis

A mainstream movie audition brings two adult film actors together — and they end up performing an intimate scene as part of the casting process. That's the setup for Haru wo Daite Ita, a 2-episode OVA from 2005 that takes the Boys Love genre somewhere genuinely interesting: the murky, competitive world of the entertainment industry. Kyousuke Iwaki and Youji Katou are rivals first. Both are trying to escape their adult video careers and land something legitimate. Iwaki gets the lead role; Katou becomes his co-star. What follows is less about romance and more about two people who don't quite know what to do with each other — Katou pushing forward with his feelings while Iwaki keeps pulling back, unwilling to name what he's actually feeling. The showbiz backdrop gives the whole thing a grounded, slightly melancholy tone. These aren't idealized characters in a soft fantasy setting — they're guys navigating real professional pressure and personal confusion at the same time. The emotional beats land harder because of it. If you've watched Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu and wanted something with a bit more weight, or if Fuyu no Semi's slower, more introspective pace worked for you, this sits in similar territory. It's short, it doesn't overstay its welcome, and it handles its characters with more care than you might expect from a 2005 OVA in this genre.
