Episode 18 of 291 closes out the Snake Way stretch that has defined much of Goku's early arc, arriving just after 'Pendulum Room Peril' demonstrated how outmatched Earth's fighters truly are against the incoming Saiyans. This episode bridges the gap between Goku's journey and his actual training, directly setting up 'Defying Gravity,' where the real preparation under King Kai begins in earnest. It's a pivotal transition point — the buildup phase is ending and the serious power escalation is about to start.
