Demon Prince Enma
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Hunting rogue demons that have escaped into the human world is the day job of Enma, the Demon Prince of the Underworld. He runs a detective agency in modern Japan alongside Yukihime, a Snow Princess with ice abilities, and Kapaeru, a kappa demon who somehow passes for human. Together they take on cases that are violent, strange, and genuinely unsettling. The twist the show leans into: demons don't hide in shadows anymore because humans have flooded the night with neon and artificial light. Now they hide in something harder to illuminate — the darkness inside people themselves. That's where this gets interesting. The cases aren't just supernatural pest control. They're tangled up with human grief, obsession, and cruelty in ways that make the demon almost feel secondary. This is a 4-episode OVA from Brain's Base, and it's a mature, gore-heavy reimagining of Go Nagai's older, lighter 'Dororon Enma-kun' — same characters, completely different energy. If you liked the slow dread of Boogiepop Phantom or the human-horror undercurrent in Requiem from the Darkness, this sits comfortably in that space. Fans of Ghost Hunt who want something with more edge and less restraint will probably find it satisfying too. It's short, dark, and doesn't waste time getting to the uncomfortable parts.
