As the granddaughter of a spirit medium, Momo Ayase believes in ghosts but thinks aliens are nonsense. Okarun is an occult nerd who believes in aliens but thinks ghosts are fake. They're both wrong, obviously, and proving each other wrong nearly gets them killed — which is how their whole chaotic partnership starts. Dandadan's third season picks up with the 'Space Globalists' arc, throwing a full-on alien organization with Earth-domination ambitions into the mix. Momo's psychic powers and Okarun's cursed alien-granted abilities get pushed hard here, and Science SARU's animation keeps doing that thing where fight scenes feel like they're breaking the screen apart while mixing traditional and modern techniques in ways that just look different from everything else airing. The real hook of Dandadan has always been the tonal whiplash — one moment you're in a genuinely tense supernatural battle, the next someone's losing their pants in the most undignified way possible, and somehow it all holds together. The relationship between Momo and Okarun keeps growing in ways that feel earned rather than forced, which gives the comedy and the stakes something to actually land on. If you liked the energy of Mob Psycho 100 or the way Jujutsu Kaisen handles its ensemble cast during high-pressure arcs, this scratches a similar itch. There's also a Noragami-esque blend of mythology and modern teenage life running underneath everything. Three seasons in, the formula hasn't gotten stale — it's just gotten weirder, and that's the point.
