Campus Special Investigator Hikaruon
Oshimeter
Synopsis
The transfer student act is something Hikaru pulls off convincingly — but he is actually a super-powered hero embedded in a private school to investigate a string of suspicious student suicides. His cover is a normal school life. His reality involves a combat suit, a high-tech motorcycle named Sparon, and a mission to dismantle a gang called the Jakoku-kai that has the entire student body living in fear. His homeroom teacher, Azumi, is 22 and sharp enough to figure out something is off about her new student — which makes her an unexpected ally rather than an obstacle. This is a one-episode OVA from 1987, so it moves fast and commits fully to its tokusatsu roots. Think less shonen tournament arc, more Metal Hero transformation sequence with a school setting wrapped around it. The tone is darker than the colorful suit suggests — bullying and teen suicide are not exactly background noise here, they are the whole reason Hikaru is there. If you grew up watching Space Sheriff Gavan or Sharivan, this is essentially a love letter to that era translated into anime form, complete with a soundtrack by Michiaki Watanabe who scored those exact shows. If you liked High School Agent or Angel Cop for their gritty, no-nonsense 80s action energy, this sits comfortably in that same neighborhood. It is short, punchy, and genuinely interested in the darker side of school life beneath the hero action surface.
