Synopsis
Entire civilizations ride on the backs of colossal living beasts — literally. Not metaphorically — these creatures drift through a world shaped by the Pure Sea, whose currents flow endlessly from north to south. That's the starting point for Fan Ying, a 2026 ONA from YHKT Entertainment that's building one of the more inventive fantasy settings I've seen in a while. The core concept revolves around a deity called Fan Ying (the Bringer) who essentially tells humanity: let your desires run wild, and miracles will follow. It's a world where wishes carry real weight and real consequences. But the rules that have governed this place since forever are starting to crack, and the people caught in that shift have to figure out whether they're riding fate or fighting it. The world-building here is doing a lot of heavy lifting — civilizations on living beasts, a deity that encourages unchecked desire, and a cosmic order on the verge of collapse. It gives off that same layered fantasy energy you get from Mirror: A Tale of Twin Cities or Legend of Fuyao, where the lore keeps unfolding and the stakes feel ancient. If you liked Joy of Life's blend of political intrigue with bigger metaphysical questions, the thematic DNA here feels similar, just filtered through a more action-driven, creature-filled setting. Details are still emerging, but the premise alone is worth keeping on your radar.
