Big Windup! 2
Oshimeter
Synopsis
A pitcher with the self-confidence of a wet paper towel, Ren Mihashi is honestly what makes Big Windup! so compelling. Big Windup! 2 picks up right where season one left off — Mihashi and the Nishiura High baseball team are heading into the next round of the summer tournament against Sakitama High, chasing the dream of making it to Koushien. This 13-episode TV series doesn't rush anything. Instead, it digs into the preparation, the game plans, and the way each player on this young team is slowly figuring out how to trust each other. Mihashi's relationship with his catcher Abe is still the emotional core here — two guys learning to communicate under pressure, which sounds simple but gets surprisingly tense when a single pitch call can shift the entire momentum of a game. A-1 Pictures keeps the animation clean and the pacing deliberate, letting the baseball breathe rather than drowning it in shounen power-ups. The strategies feel real, the anxiety feels real, and the small victories actually land because you've watched these kids earn them. If you liked Cross Game for its emotional weight or Ace of Diamond for its detailed baseball, this sits right between them — quieter than Diamond, more sports-focused than Cross Game. It's a seinen sports anime that treats baseball like a thinking person's game, and treats its characters like actual teenagers trying to hold it together.
