Synopsis
Deep within the Tama branch of a secret society hell-bent on world domination, five raccoon employees punch the clock every day. That's the setup, and it only gets weirder from there. Araiguma Calcal-dan is a short-form comedy TV series where each bite-sized episode drops a new gag about these anthropomorphic raccoon employees trying to navigate office life while technically being part of an evil organization. The cast is a solid ensemble — you've got the eager new recruit, the self-conscious boss who's too polite for his own good, a cold modern-type guy, a hotheaded senior who's secretly kind, and a handsome older leader holding the whole mess together. None of them are particularly good at the whole world domination thing, which is kind of the point. The humor leans absurd and quick, more about workplace dynamics than any actual scheming. At 24 short episodes from Nippon Animation, it's the kind of show you throw on when you want something light and low-commitment. If you liked the office satire energy of Aggretsuko or the animal-character charm of Shirokuma Cafe, this hits a similar vein but with faster pacing and a goofier premise. Fans of workplace comedies like Working!! will also find familiar ground here, just with more fur and less actual productivity. One episode reportedly aired in raw storyboard form with unscripted commentary, which tells you everything about the vibe they're going for.
