EPISODE CONTEXT
As the first of only four episodes, this opener carries significant structural weight — every scene is foundational. There is nothing before it, and the series has no room for slow burns that don't pay off; this episode seeds the emotional and psychological conflicts that the remaining three episodes will escalate. It leads directly into episode two, 'Boredom, Spaceship and Overgrowth,' where the alien encounters and the pressures on Yuri and her teammates begin to intensify in earnest.
