Synopsis

Beneath the ocean now lies most of Earth. Tokyo is gone, swallowed by a catastrophic earthquake, and humanity has learned to live with that. Aika Sumeragi has turned the wreckage into a career — she's a salvager, diving into flooded ruins to pull up whatever's worth recovering. It's not glamorous work, but she's good at it, and she does it alongside her boss Gozo and his daughter Rion. Then a job comes in to track down something called Lagu, a mysterious substance worth enough that a lot of dangerous people want it too. Specifically, a guy named Rudolf Hagen and his army of uniformed women called the Delmo Corporation. Things get complicated fast. AIKa is a 7-episode OVA from 1997 that leans hard into its post-apocalyptic setup while keeping the tone mostly light and action-driven. Aika has a battle suit made of a special metal called ultranate that gives her a real edge in a fight, and the show has fun with that. It's upfront about being fanservice-heavy — the Delmo soldiers are very much part of that — so you know what you're walking into. If you enjoyed Najica Blitz Tactics or something like Burn-Up W, the energy here is similar: late-90s action OVA with a fun female lead, an absurd villain setup, and enough world-building to keep the story moving between the chaotic set pieces.
