Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead
Oshimeter
Synopsis
For three years, Akira Tendou got ground into dust by a black company — the kind of job that eats your sleep, your hobbies, and eventually your will to live. Then one morning he wakes up and Tokyo is full of zombies. His reaction? Pure relief. He doesn't have to go to work anymore. That's the core joke of Zom 100, and it lands harder than you'd expect. Instead of panicking, Akira makes a bucket list of 100 things he wants to do before he turns into a zombie, and suddenly this broken-down office drone is bursting with color and energy for the first time in years. The show literally shifts its palette — grey, lifeless corporate scenes give way to vibrant, almost painterly animation once Akira decides to actually live. BUG FILMS went hard on the visual contrast and it works. This is a 12-episode TV series based on a seinen manga, and the tone walks a neat line between genuine zombie survival tension and comedy that's more about reclaiming your life than it is about the apocalypse. The adult cast helps — these aren't teenagers figuring things out, they're burned-out twentysomethings who needed the world to end to start being honest with themselves. If you liked the comedic zombie energy of Shaun of the Dead or wanted something with the survival grit of I Am a Hero but way more fun, this fits right in that space. Highschool of the Dead fans might also vibe with it, though Zom 100 is more interested in existential dread than fan service.
