📖 SYNOPSIS
Blind since childhood, Lin Qiye nonetheless navigates a world where ancient gods and mythical beings walk among humans, and most people have no idea — all while juggling life as a high school student. After surviving a crisis in Cangnan city, he's spent a full year training at Jinnan Mountain to become a formal Night Watchman, basically a supernatural soldier tasked with keeping humanity safe from things that go bump in the night. Now he's back with Squad 136, his old team, and the threats are escalating. A Western evil god is making moves, the Church of the Ancient Gods is stirring up trouble, and something massive is brewing back in Cangnan.
This ONA leans into its psychological elements more than you'd expect from a donghua action series. Lin Qiye's blindness isn't just a character quirk — it shapes how he perceives threats and processes the horrific things around him. The 3D animation from Shenman Entertainment gives the fight sequences real weight, and the modern urban setting mixed with ancient mythology creates this atmosphere where danger feels like it could be hiding behind any corner.
If you liked the cursed energy battles and dark tone of Jujutsu Kaisen, or the gods-walking-among-us vibe of Noragami, this hits a similar nerve. There's also a Tokyo Ghoul quality to how it handles a protagonist navigating a hidden world of violence while trying to hold onto something human. It's dark, it's tense, and it doesn't hold your hand.
