Picture the most heavily guarded kindergarten on the planet, filled with kids of world leaders and billionaires, where assassination attempts happen like clockwork. Now picture the teachers — every single one is a convicted criminal working off their sentence by keeping these kids alive. That's Youchien Wars. Rita, known in her former life as 'The Witch,' is a legendary assassin who takes a teaching gig at Kindergarten Noir to shave time off her prison sentence. Her job is simple: protect the children from the near-daily attempts on their lives. She's terrifyingly competent at violence but has one crippling weakness — she completely falls apart around attractive men, even when they're literally trying to kill her students. Working alongside her is Doug, a young American con artist from Nevada who brings his own brand of chaos to the faculty. The vibe here is action sequences that hit hard sandwiched between genuinely funny character comedy. The kindergarten setting creates this absurd contrast where you've got hardened criminals doing arts and crafts one minute and fending off elite hitmen the next. If you liked the "protect the kids" energy of Spy x Family or the unconventional classroom dynamics of Assassination Classroom, this sits in a similar space but leans harder into the action side — closer to something like Black Lagoon in its fight choreography. Studio Sunrise is handling the animation, which bodes well for the combat scenes. It's a weird premise that just works.
