📖 SYNOPSIS
"Who's Left Behind?" chronicles the life of Kayoko, a young girl starting first grade in 1940. She enjoys playing with friends, singing schoolyard chants, and spending time with her three older brothers. Kayoko, a bit of a crybaby, eagerly anticipates becoming a big sister as her mother is pregnant. The story is set against the backdrop of a growing war effort, where patriotism is encouraged. Kayoko, like many, contributes to the cause, even giving up her beloved dolly. As time passes, she witnesses the war's impact on her life and the lives of those around her. The anime, based on the real-life experiences of Kayoko Ebina, prepares viewers for the difficult times ahead, culminating in the year 1945.
