"Tottoko Hamutaro: Anime Dechu!" represents the initial animated adaptation of the Hamtaro franchise. Released on VHS on September 15, 1999, it comprises four short episodes. The VHS was exclusively available through mail-order from the September 1999 issue of Shogakukan. Additionally, it was distributed free of charge to Shogakukan staff members who had preschool-aged children. This early animated venture introduces viewers to the world of Hamtaro through a series of brief, self-contained stories, setting the stage for future adaptations.
