Synopsis

Just a regular college kid, Wang Xiaoxiu finally gets the girl — his childhood friend Shen Yao actually likes him back. Great, right? Except a local delinquent named Sun Jun decides he wants Shen Yao too, and settles the matter the old-fashioned way: by beating Xiaoxiu unconscious and dumping him in a river. That would normally be the end of the story, but Xiaoxiu wakes up at the riverbed and finds something that shouldn't exist — a mysterious cube left behind by some advanced cosmic civilization. Now he's got supernatural abilities he barely understands, a grudge to settle, and a relationship to protect. This 12-episode ONA from Big Firebird Culture, based on a web manga, does something I appreciate: it doesn't rush past the grounded stuff. The college setting, the romance, the petty rivalry — it all gets room to breathe before the power system kicks in. The Superpower Cube mechanic is genuinely interesting as a framework, and watching Xiaoxiu figure out what he can do while navigating everyday problems gives the show a nice push-and-pull between the mundane and the extraordinary. If you liked the "ordinary person gains power" trajectory of Quanzhi Fashi, or the way The King's Avatar grounds its protagonist in a recognizable modern setting before layering on the spectacle, this hits a similar chord. Rakshasa Street fans will also find familiar DNA in how it blends action with character-driven stakes. It's action-packed without forgetting why you should care about the guy throwing the punches.
