The Master of Diabolism Season 2
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Once the most feared demonic cultivator in the world, Wei Wuxian died and was forgotten — or so everyone thought. Now he's back, resurrected into someone else's body, pretending to be a lunatic so nobody figures out who he really is. That's the setup for Mo Dao Zu Shi, and this second season picks up right where the tension left off. Wei Wuxian is hiding out in the Cloud Recesses — the pristine, rule-obsessed headquarters of the Gusu Lan Clan — alongside Lan Wangji, his stoic former classmate who clearly knows more than he lets on. Together they're investigating a severed demonic arm radiating dark energy, which is already unsettling enough before you realize there's something even worse lurking in the mountains. This 8-episode ONA from B.CMAY PICTURES leans hard into its mystery roots. The pacing is tighter than the first season, and the dynamic between Wei Wuxian's chaotic energy and Lan Wangji's rigid composure carries every scene they share. The animation blends traditional 2D with selective 3D work that really shines during fight sequences, and the soundtrack layers traditional Chinese instruments over orchestral arrangements in a way that just fits. If you liked Heaven Official's Blessing or got into the franchise through The Untamed, this is the animated version doing what donghua does best — gorgeous visuals, layered world-building, and characters with actual history between them. Fans of Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation already know, but if you haven't started yet, the first season is only a click away.
