The setting has a grittier edge than you might expect, digging into class divides, the kingdom's underworld, and what it means to help people when the system itself doesn't want them helped. The dynamic between Zenos and Lily carries a lot of the emotional weight early on, grounded in mutual respect rather than anything forced.
