Terrifying Defty
Oshimeter
Synopsis
When a power-hungry megacorporation stumbles upon an ancient time rift connected to a higher-dimensional space, it does exactly what you'd expect — tries to hoard all the energy for itself. Problem is, their reckless exploitation destabilizes the rift, and suddenly otherworldly spiritual energy is leaking across the entire planet. People start awakening abilities, forming contracts with actual deities, and the world as everyone knew it basically stops existing. Our protagonist happens to awaken a connection to one of the most powerful spirits out there, which immediately puts him on a collision course with the corporation that's been pulling strings behind all of this chaos. What makes Hai Ru Shenming interesting is how it mashes sci-fi and fantasy together without either side feeling like an afterthought. The corporate dystopia angle gives the world real stakes, while the deity contract system adds a layer of mythological weight that keeps the power dynamics from feeling generic. There's a tension between technological control and divine awakening running through the whole thing that gives it more to chew on than your average action ONA. If you've been watching stuff like Spare Me, Great Lord! or Fanren Xiu Xian Chuan and want something that leans harder into the sci-fi side, this scratches that itch. Fans of The Legend of Hei will also appreciate the way spiritual and modern worlds collide here. It's action-packed but clearly building toward something bigger with its themes of power and freedom.
